About

Woodland Wilds: Ages 18 months - 4 years, Tuesdays

New Time for Session 4

2:30-4:15  (option to play until 4:30)

Adventure & Exploration Class to enjoy with an adult to help your little one learn outside in the natural world

It is optional for parent to leave child in class once they are potty trained & 4 years old. Parent must stay on campus until child turns 5.

Woodland wilds learning space is on a natural farm & little woodsy spaces. We use natural spaces to engage the child. We are a year-round outdoor program, including a parent/adult. classes are led to flow & ignite curiosity, and learning in a less structured environment. We follow forest school concepts and learning. we have natural & cultivated spaces for them. We focus on child led outdoor engagement through play, sensory experiences, hands-on experiential learning that encourages some “risky play” in a safe environment with guidance & support like learning to walk independently on a log & when they need help or should get down helping them to learn to judge their abilities for safer & grounded judgement. we have games & activities to practice listening to another adult, sharing & waiting out turn, counting & rhyming. Through foster holistic child development and confidence & foster self resilience by playing in the weather, wading through a stream, balancing on logs, approaching a lamb and feeding her along with our many other farm friends.

Our rhythm:

Gather & greet: circle time with stories & action songs

Rotational & seasonal activities: water play, floating sticks, painting, puppet theater, fine motor skill activities, crafts, nature walk & nature Lessons bringing awareness to the world around them feeding the sheep & lambs.

Children thrive in our space. Come grow with us!

Class Information & What to Bring & Wear

Meet in the waiting area by the blue rooster

We meet and end at the waiting area

Dress in layers as the weather can fluctuate

Kids & adults wear close toed shoes & wear shoes at all times

Bring a large filled water bottle

Bring snacks for your child - they are only eaten at designated are

Bring all garbage & diapers home with you: Pack it in Pack it out Please

All items found stay here feathers, rocks, sticks etc Kids deal with this best when their caregiver tells them right away to help manage expectations. "Wow look at that neat feather! Let's enjoy it while we're walking around, and then we leave it at the gate before we go. All of the neat things here, stay here. We can look for it next time." An idea to help the child know the rule, have less ownership and expectation to bring things home & still enjoy the neat thing they are enjoying.

We generally stay together

We all stay in the general area of the activity and help the child learn this concept while here

When we are in the farm area, we are all in the farm area

When we are in the garden, we are all in the garden area...

Kids do best when they are told this on the first day with consistency

Please help your child to learn while here, items stay in their area, and help them with this. i.e. musical instruments stay at the music table, puppets stay at the puppet theater, crayons stay at the art table. This helps items not get lost and ruined, and keeps the items to stay in the area for the next child. If they start walking away with it, remind or help them to know where it stays or gets put away.
